AHIP Giant snatch away victory beat Yelwa in Bauch

AHIP Giant basketball club of Kano ran to an away victory of 60-41 points in the opening game of the 2007/ 2008 Savannah confererence of the Nigeria Basketball Federation organized premier league.

The Kano-based team whose female counterpart did not fair well in the just concluded phase-one of the Zenith Bank bankrolled Women league went to Bauchi to prove a point that it has mastered the premier terrain from the blast of the referees' whistle to the surprise of the Yelwa Hawks who went down in front of the home fans.

Bauchi Net however, save the day for basketball fans that throng the Tafawa Balewa gymnasium to catch a glimpse of the return of premier league action after a long wait with a 67-52 points win over visiting Tapgun Rockets basketball club of Jos.

With the start of the premier league Saturday in the Savannah thus signals the commencement of hostility and laid the rest doubting Thomas’s who felt the NBBF is not serious about organising a credible league again.

Action will start in the Atlantic conference this weekend with Ebun Comets taking on Customs on April 12 at 16.00 hours while Dodan Warriors will battle Union Bank at 18.00 hours same.

The match between Delta Force and Islanders of Lagos billed for the Sports Hall of the Asaba Township Stadium may not hold as the former Nigeria four-peat is not likely to be part of the league this year.
