Double Portion For Dangote Gymnastics
Sponsor of the annual Aliko Dangote National Open Gymnastics Championship, Foluso adefemi has indicated that the budget for the event has been doubled as against the last edition. Speaking with pressmen in Lagos, Wednesday, the clearing and forwarding magnate, said, there would be much more pleasurable time for the contestants and officials to the event billed for the National stadium, Lagos, from April 10 to 14th.
Secretary of the Gymnastics federation, Opeyemi Aminu revealed that invitations have been extended to virtually all the states gymnastics teams as well as to private clubs,the military, paramilitary and Police teams.
The event which features competition in the intermediate and senior categories is designed to contribute to the development of the sports in Nigeria and to provide avenues for youths to be meaningfully engaged.
On the part of the sponsor, the prime idea of the championship is to honour billionaire business man Aliko Dangote whose birthday comes up on April 10. According to him, "Dangote through his various business investment has continued to provide employment for millions of Nigerians and it is only fitting that he should be honoured to be encouraged to do more for the progress of the country."
