Julius Berger football club of Lagos Monday defeated bitter rivals 3SC football club of Ibadan, 1-0 in Lagos, reports nigeriasports.com
The game which took place at the UNILAG sports complex was played behind closed doors for fear of violent clashes between the supporters of the two clubs lived up to the billing as both teams fought each other to a standstill in a game watched only by the members of the press. It was a 78th minute goal by the home team that decided the game with everyone present perfectly satisfied by the level of officiating. ''The game was professionally handled, we didnt take our chances and at the end it was the late goal which decided the game. We have no cause to complain", Jubril Arowolo, the media officer of shooting stars disclosed to nigeriasports.com after the game. "We have a home game this weekend against Gabros so we hope to make amends and we expect that by then, our player in the U-23 team, Yinka Adedeji, would have returned to the team and we can tackle the loopholes noticed today", he further revealed. 3SC presently lie in 7th position with no hope of gaining promotion this season. 0
