Nigeria U23 through to Beijing soccer event

Nigeria U-23 men's team Wednesday book a place in the football event of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games with a 3-0 spanking of over South Africa in the last qualifiers played at the Abuja National Stadium.

With the victory the Nigerian side known as the "Dream Team-4" became the third Africa country to book a place in the 2008 Beijing Men football event after Cote d'Ivoire and Cameroon who are already through before their last group games.

Goals from Olympic Marseille defender and debutant Victor Anichebe and an  own goal from a South African player were enough to give the ticket to Nigeria ahead of Ghana who were waiting for a slip.

The result means Nigeria top the group ahead of Ghana who have completed their group matches.

I think Siasia has been doing a good job trying to get these boys ready for the game. I really think that his effort will pay off. I will be rooting for U23 from NYC in August. Actually, I cancelled my vacation so as to be around for the game.
