Falcons Will Take Caution - Jossy Lad

National senior women’s team chief coach, Joseph Ladipo romanced William Shakespeare’s wisdom on Wednesday when he stated that his Super Falcons will be well aware of the so-called Ides of March
as they take on Ghana’s Black Queens in an Olympics qualifier in Abuja on Saturday.

In his famous book, Julius Caesar, Shakespeare’s character Mark Anthony was warned to beware of the Ides of March (mid –March) as he set out to betray his good friend Julius Caesar. The date the Falcons will be playing Ghana, 15th March, falls on the Ides of March.

The former 3SC of Ibadan strategist said his girls are refusing to get over –confident ahead of the big game, despite a comfortable 10-1 annihilation of Namibia in an African Women Championship at the same venue on Saturday.

“The issue of over –confidence is out of it. This is a big match and we will approach it with every seriousness. A football match is 90 minutes, and only the team that puts the ball in the net the most will win the day.

“You don’t win a match simply because of your last result, or as a result of the calibre of players you have on the field. You win a match by putting in good effort to overpower your opponents and doing the business brilliantly.

“Our mission is simple: to win. We will go in there and do Nigeria proud”, pledged the ageless trainer.

Nigeria’s Falcons must win against the Queens on Saturday in order to overhaul the West African rivals from the top of Group A table of the African series for the Beijing Olympics.

Presently, the Falcons on six points, three behind the Ghanaians, and will only snatch the ticket with a win, since they have more goals than the Ghanaians in the race.

The Falcons lost 0-1 to their opponents when the two teams met in Accra in July last year.
