Morocco sure against Guinea

In-form Morocco striker Soufiane Alloudi will miss Morocco's group matches against Guinea and Ghana due to a knee problem.

After scoring a hat-trick in the Atlas Lions' opening game, Alloudi is relying on his team-mates to ensure he gets the chance to top the scoring charts.

"We played well against Namibia," he said.

"I hope we can all continue like that so that we can win the competition and I can finish top scorer."

"I'll miss the next two matches but hope to be able to join my colleagues in the next round," said the 24-year-old.

Alloudi, who joined Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates last September, is already attracting interest from leading French side Nantes following his fine display.

His team-mate Abdeslam Ouaddou has backed the midfielder to make an impact later in the competition.

"We are very disappointed about this injury because referees have to protect the good and skilful players," the defender says.

"It’s difficult for teams who want to play good football but I hope he will come back soon, and he's a player who can impress in the tournament if we go far."

Morocco's clash with Guinea is a repeat of the deciding game at the 1976 Africa Cup of Nations.

That tournament was played in a group format, and Guinea were on course to become champions until Morocco found a late equaliser and lifted the trophy.

"Guinea are a quality side, but it's a game we're going out to win as that will mean our ticket to the quarter-finals," added Michel.

Guinea may be ranked third-best in Africa on the official standings, but defeat in this game will end their interest in the tournament.

The Syli Nationale were below par in their 2-1 lose to Ghana, and have no breathing space now.

"We played at a level which wasn't recognisable with how we can play," said Guinea's French coach Robert Nouzaret.

"I've got to get the confidence back in the side, that loss can't stay in their minds.

"I'm still optimistic, because we can't play that badly again."
