Makinwa is best in training!
Many people have been asking the question of why Stephen Ayodele Makinwa always makes the Nigeria team to major competitions. Super Eagles’ head coach Berti Vogts resolved the puzzle somewhat Tuesday night when he said Makinwa is always the best striker in training! Not a few Nigerians at the stadium were aghast when Vogts brought Makinwa to replace Obafemi Martins in the second half of Monday’s defeat by Cote d’Ivoire.
“He makes it difficult for me because he’s always the best striker in training. If he does not learn to perform in matches, I may have to change my mind”. Makinwa has failed to light any major tournament, ending up unloved for his outing at the 2006 Nations Cup in Egypt. 0
