Snakes invade Falcons camp.

Prisca Emeafu, victim of NFA's poor camp conditions
Tragedy was averted at the Ibadan camp of Nigeria’s female National team, the Falcons on Saturday morning as utility player, Pepetual Nkwocha was almost bitten by a snake in the bathroom.

Perpetual Nkwocha told www.nigeriasports.com that she was about to take a shower after their Saturday morning training when she discovered a snake in the bathroom.

Snakes snakes every where

Just a while back, US based Mercy Akide was almost bitten by one as she made her way back  to the camp from training.

“Only on Friday, the guards at the camp killed a snake and now we have had two close shaves with snakes in just one day,” Mercy Akide told www.nigeriasports.com.

Mercy Akide however said life is still normal in the camp as the players know they cannot live in fear because of the snake incidents.

“The NFA are yet to say anything about the situation but we know we will be moved to D’Rovans hotel on Monday afternoon and after that I think it will be okay.

Still in high spirits

However coach Ismaila Mabo says the incident has in no way affected the psychology of his girls.

“They are still in high spirits and we will move out of this place soon. I have only told them to be careful so we don’t have a tragedy on our hands here.”

Flash back to tragedies

Last week the Super Falcons camp was hit with darkness, as the National Electric Power Plc (NEP Plc) cut off power supply to the Liberty Stadium Hostel of the team over the huge electricity bills being owed, whilst officials of the NFA insist they will not pay the bills because the NFA did not incur said bills.

The hostel was in darkness for nearly one week, as Hostel staff resorted to pumping water for one hour every day with the diesel generator in the camp, but diesel ran out on Wednesday and the camp was without water.

This however resorted to the girls buying water in sachets leading to a couple of them suffering from running stomach, while Judith Omonikhire's case has resulted to full-blown cholera.

Ifeanyi Chiejine was also hospitalised.

Four years ago, the nonchalant attitude of the NFA towards the Falcons led to the sad case of former Captain Prisca Emeafu who injured her tendon while trying to flee from armed robbers who invaded their camp just before the Sydney Olympics.

Emeafu had her soccer career cut short with the NFA ignoring her pleas for assistance so as to correct her ruptured tendon.
