Search & Groom Partner EFCC to fix Nigeria
As part of efforts to enhance Youth development, FIFA’s official football and development implementing partner in Nigeria, SEARCH AND GROOM-Youth for Development centre in collaboration with the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) through its civil society interface; FIX NIGERIA INITIATIVE, is organizing an inaugural summit with the theme -SPORTS, CSR AND YOUTH DEVELOPMENT SUMMIT\ EXHIBITION.
The aim of the summit is to bring together Corporate Nigeria with other components of governance including National and State Assemblies, Local government, Ministries of Youth and Sports Development, Women affairs and Poverty Alleviation ministries with the sole aim of finding a common benchmark to arrest youth restiveness and putting in proper perspective development issues affecting Nigeria youths. The summit, which is billed for March 18 and 19 2008 in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja is expected to develop a comprehensive youth-based agenda aimed at building patriotism among the youth of this nation. The summit will discuss among other issues as: Sports & Youth Development –A collective responsibility to be delivered by a representative of UNICEF, a top official of the EFCC will handle the issue of Integrity and Youth Development-The Synergy; while Streetfootballworld representative will speak on sustaining the Partnership-Youth Development Initiatives And Government At All Levels. Meanwhile, the Project Director, Yomi Kuku said SEARCH AND GROOM is making further efforts to design and develop constructive ideas on how to use sport as a platform of Corporate Social Responsibility to resolve youth restiveness in the country. The Fix Nigeria Initiative coordinator, Chido Onumah also said the EFCC is proud to be associated with efforts aimed at re-awakening the consciousness of the youth and developing their hidden talents. Onumah recalled that FIX NIGERIA INITIATIVE’S strategic partnership with SEARCH AND GROOM is a long-term venture, which started with the Street Soccer League Cup last July. He enjoined Corporate Nigeria and stakeholders in youth development sector to seize this opportunity to participate in a constructive dialogue and chart a way forward for Nigerian youth who are the future leaders of our dear country.
