MTN Snooker comes to Port Harcourt

Thursday, the twenty ninth of January 2004 will be a remarkable day for snooker players and fans of the game in Port Harcourt as Charlie’s Restaurant hosts the first ever MTN Port Harcourt Snooker Championships.

The Championship is targeted at young people and those who are young at heart.

Oti Ofokansi is the Regional Marketing and Strategy Manager of MTN Port Harcourt and he tells www.nigeriasports.com that it is their way to contribute a little quota to the development of snooker in the state and country.

“With the situation in the Niger Delta, we believe we must get the minds of these young people off drugs and other vices and we have chosen this snooker championships which we know will attract majority of them, especially those in the higher institutions.”

According to him, an arrangement will be worked out with higher institutions so the championship can be staged in Universities too as a way to curb cultism in the state.
