Milan Will Always Be With Me, declares Costa

Benfica midfielder Manuel Rui Costa has admitted it was emotional to return to San Siro during the Champions League match with Milan last night.

The Eagles were defeated 2-1 courtesy of goals by Andrea Pirlo and Filippo Inzaghi, Costa admits it was special to come back to the ground where he spent five years of his illustrious career.

"Portugal is my country and I am happy to be at Benfica, but Italy is a very special place for me and with this Milan I became a European champion. It will always be with me.

"I hope we can qualify from this group alongside Milan. We thought we could stop them tonight (Tuesday), but it was not to be."

Between 2001 and 2006 Rui Costa played 169 games for the Rossoneri and won one Scudetto, one Champions League and one European Supercup. He is fondly remembered by the Milan supporters and was given a standing ovation by the Rossoneri faithful upon leaving the field Tuesday night.

The ex-Portugal international, who was capped 94 times by his country and also played for Fiorentina for seven seasons, has been enjoying something of a renaissance recently and has already scored three times in this campaign.
