Central Africa finish 7th beat Ivory Coast 69-63

Central Africa Republic today defeated Cote d’Ivoire by 69-63 points to finish seventh in a hard fought match played at the Cidadela gymnasium in Luanda, Angola.

The Central African dominance in the second and third quarters was enough to earn them victory at the expense of the Ivories who won the first and fourth quarters (17-10 and 19-14) while their Central African opponent took the second and third quarters with 26-11 and 19-16 points in the classification game of the 24th FIBA Africa Championship.

29-year-old former Longwy-Rehon basketball club of France guard Lionel Steve Bomayako led the floor with 20 points and one assist, his compatriot Maixant Mombollet added 13 points and 7 rebounds while George Washington University forward Regis Junior Koundjia-Sindo contributed 12 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists to lift his side above Coach Monclar Jacques tutored Ivories side.

ABC basketball club of Abidjan guard Stephane Konate Sornan had a double double of 17 points and 10 rebounds the best by any player in the match just as French Pro-B team Saint Vallier Basket Drome’s forward, Rodrigue Alfred Djahue added 13 points and 7 rebounds for the painful lose against Coach Perrin Michel and his boys.
