Eaglets zoom to quater-finals

The Nigerian U-17 side, the Golden Eaglets made good their promise to over-run Japan and pick up a final eight place by humiliating the Asian representatives with a 3-0 thrashing.

The Nigerian lads were 2 goals up at half time through goals by Oseni and Macauley before Macauley also added a 3rd goal late in the game with much of the credit going the way of  Super sub Akinsola whose brilliant run completely tore the Japanese defence into shreds.

Group favourites France had earlier played a disappointing 1-1 draw with Haiti, leaving the second place position up for grabs in the group.

Nigeria will on Saturday take on Haiti in a formality game for the Africans but the result will be of great significance to the group on who emerges as runners-up.
