Kalu assures on car gift

Governor Orji Kalu
Abia state Governor and patron of Enyimba football club of Aba, Orji Uzor Kalu has debunked claims of deceit on his part and literally promised that players of Enyimba will get their ‘Kia salon car’ on 23 February in Umuahia.

Speaking with www.nigeriasports.com  in Lagos, the governor stressed that the demanding national assignments on the path of the players has been responsible for the delay.

Adding that contrary to insinuations in the media “The players are not even there, they’ve been in Portugal and some of them had been in Senegal, we have 13-players in the national teams, and they will start coming back and we can not do the ceremony without these players. The cars are already there at government house in Umuahia” Kalu pointed.

Flashback

The sports loving governor however dislodged any form of ill-feelings about the car gift insisting that the players merited the car gift this time around unlike the Milan disgrace in year 2002 that resulted in the botched Peugeot 504 reward.

“They have behaved well and I did not give them after the Inter Milan game because they didn’t behave well, they have behaved well and the cars is theirs for the price of nothing” he added

No holding back

Kalu also noted that the ceremony will be of national significance and the entire populace of Abia will be on hand to witness a reward of excellence.

“We are playing a game in Aba on 22nd of February and the next day the vice president will hand them the cars”

Enyimba will be playing Tunisian side, Etoile du Sahel in the Africa cup of champions’ cup on February 22.

Also President Olusegun Obasanjo too must make good his promise to the Eyimba boys to convince Nigerians that he really appreciate the effort of the boys.
