Gattuso Carpet French Coach Domenech

The French boss has been castigated widely for announced that he believed that games such as the match between France and Italy in the 2000 Olympic Games was rigged.

Domenech truly stoked the fires before the Italians and the French meet in a Euro 2008 qualifier as he added that he thought the referees could cause his side problems.

“I was in Taranto at the time and I want to tell the French Coach that he missed his chance to remain silent,” Gattuso said about the Olmpic encounter.

“That was a great match, which was fought by both sides and could have been won by France as well,” added Ringhio.

“If he wants we can watch it again together to see if the referee was corrupt or not. I don’t see why he had to say these things.

“The match between Italy and France will be an important tie and I do not want it complicated further with this kind of tension."

The Italian side's team manager, Gigi Riva, was also infuriated by Domenech's outburst and believes that the referee will now be under real pressure for the Euro 2008 encounter.

“This is pathetic. He knows that Italy-France is an important tie and is trying to cause controversy,” Riva stated.

“Why didn’t he say these things back then, after the match? He is the one who is trying to influence the referee, it is a very sad thing to see.”
