The defending champion won the first quarter 17-10 but the Nigeria fought back to pick the second quarter 24-21 for a 38-34 points scoreline in favour of Australia, the Nigerian lad held their own with third quarter ending 21 points apiece and the fourth quarter also ending by 18 points apiece for a final scoreline of 77-73. Three Nigeria key players, Mohammed Bukar, Emmanuel Negedu and Michael Ohiero fouled out in the fourth quarter which gave Australia the room to run away with victory which leaves Nigeria with a must win situation against Turkey tomorrow. Nigeria's small forward Ibrahim Adamu Yusuf led his teammates on the scorers sheet with 18 points, 7 reboundsand 2 assists followed by Bukar with 16 points 7 reboundsand one assist, while the duo of Solomon Alabi and Emmanuel Negedu contributed 10 points each, just as team captain, Daniel Daudu led the floor with 7 assists. In the other matches already decided at the time of this report, France had the better of Brazil with a 98-73 win to led its group with maximum points after seeing off Lithuania on Thursday, while Lithuania recorded a comprehensive win over Lebanon 105-69, Korea defeated Puerto Rico 98-94.
