J/Tigers beat City league All-Star 105-85
Nigeria Junior National team, The Junior Tigers have stepped up their build-up in readiness for the 8th FIBA U19 World Championship holding in Novi Sad, Serbia from July 12 to 22 with a 105-85 points win over Lagos City league All-Star team Saturday at the Indoor Hall of the Lagos national stadium.
According to head coach, Adeka Dauda, the warm-up match is important to the team as the time draw colser to the first jump-ball against Canada on July 12 a day after the team lands in Novi Sad as they are due to jet out on July 10. The junior national team played a more coherent game against the All-Star side which saw Chariot basketball club guard Anyebe Alexander leading the floor with 20 points. The Daniel Daudu captained junior side won in the first, second and fourth quarters of 22-19, 28-20 and 33-24 while both sides ended the third quarter 22 points apiece. Junior team centre, Solomon Alabi who made the top-five side at the FIBA Africa Championship last year in Durban, South Africa led his teammate with 16 points followed by another USA-based player Emmanuel Negedu with 15 points as the trio of point guard, Michael Ohiero, small forward George Ehiagwina and fast pace Mohammed Bukar added 14, 13 and 10 points respectively. The team is billed to play its final tune-up game against a Benin Republic side Sunday as it set its eyes of qualifying from its group which comprises of championship defending champion, Australia, Turkey and Canada. 0
