Rangers threaten to Abandon Semi Final

The players of Rangers International Football Club of Enugu have vowed not to honor their Semi final match against Heartland in the on going Coca Cola Challenge Cup billed for Kano on the 21st July 2007.

nigeriasports.com authoritatively gathered that the Perm Secretary for the youth and sports development Mrs. Ezeh has been in and out of the government lodge in a bid to secure funds to pay the players all outstanding bills before this weekend ties against Heartland FC.

 One of players who pleaded anonymous confirmedthat the players met in Enugu on Monday with the officials of the who has promised them, they are have been making every effort to ensure that money would released to them before their quarter finals match.

 "We the players have met and has resolved not to honour the semi-finals unless our oustanding. For Christ sake we have done our best and it left for them to show appreciation. We all have families which they know," "When the officials arrived, they called us for a brief meeting where we told them that we will not play this semi final match until we are have been paid, so we went on strike till date.

Although we have not seen the cash but they told us to wait for the good news and we are waiting for them or there will be a work over against Rangers Int in Kano," he added. The players however blamed the officials for their selfish desires which results to their poor performance in the just ended Super 4 played in Lagos, stating that such will not repeat it self again.

"What is happening now was exactly what happened during the Super 4, where the players were left with nothing but faith, no motivation, no moral support,now the management is trying to play the same game on us again but this time it will not work.

Because our career is stake here, if we lose again they will come out blame us while they are the cause, we all agreed to this new development until further notice,"; he said. Reacting to this, Technical Adviser Okay Emeordi, said he would not stop the players from their angry demonstration as his profile is also at stake

"What do you want me to do; I can't stop the players from asking for their right. Remember my profile is also at stake because if they go out their and lose what will be my position in the Nigeria record. Whathappened at the super 4 has come and gone and I don't want it to happen again.

The players need to be motivated so that they will give their best," he explained. Meanwhile, the team is expected to leave for Kano on Friday by Air Flight if their demands are met by the club management.
