MTN/NFA Media lecture , what next?

The two eventful days, which saw stakeholders in the round leather game in attendance would forever remain evergreen

in the minds of all, who attended, those who read, watched or listen to it in the print and electronic media respectively.

Apart from being the first of its kind in the history of the National Football Association (NFA), it is one of the best that has originated from the stable of the FA especially at this crucial period, crucial because the FA has a lot on its head as almost all its teams are at their peak period starting from the Super Eagles to the Club sides, yet, the NFA found out time to organize what could be described as the best media forum ever.

To this, I say kudos to the organizing team. It is one big task putting up a very successful event of this magnitude, but the big question still remains, ‘Can the FA go through the scripts of all the magnificent speakers who out of their reservoirs of knowledge, proffer solutions to the way forward for Nigeria soccer and implement the implementables?

Except this is done or the essence of the lecture will not only be a colossal rubbish but also a waste of resources which would have been chandelled to other useful ventures.

I urge the NFA Chairman, Alhaji Sanni Lulu, like the father and sportsman he is, to see the various inputs of the invited guests like Justice Adokie Amasiemeka, Larry Izamoje, Paul Bassey, Mitchel Obi and others as means of bringing the game in the limelight again in Nigeria, as a typical Nigerian today prefer the EUFA and English FA to our own club side football.

This will in turn make it marketable not only to Nigerians in Nigeria but also to Nigerians in the Diaspora and to the world at large. If a Chelsea of England Jersey could be sold in Lagos Nigeria, why couldn’t a Dolphins of Port Harcourt jersey be sold in Nigeria, let alone in the UK?

It is high time the FA in Nigeria became innovative and stop being fully dependent on the Federal Government for the day-to-day running of their respective offices. What is the marketing and PR departments of the FA for?

I suggest another meeting just like the MTN/NFA Media Lecture be held, may be NFA/Stakeholder Forum this time, where the private sector will be invited to discuss more on the way forward business wise, for Nigerian Football. How long will Nigeria live on past soccer glory?
