Africa is the largest fundraiser for English FA af

It is no longer news that the 2010 World Cup to be held in South Africa is the most financially successful

in the history of Soccer as it has already yielded over USD3 billion from sponsorship, but that Africa is the largest fundraiser for the English FA after Asia, says Dr. Dany Jordaan, CEO, LOC 2010 World Cup.

Dr. Jordaan disclosed this in Lagos Nigeria at the just concluded 2 day MTN/NFA Media Lecture 2007 where he delivered a lecture titled,” Challenges of hosting 2010 FIFA World Cup: Business Opportunities For Africa, Media Imperatives, Responsibilities And Lessons For Nigeria”

In his well thought out lecture, the South African technocrat made it known to the world that Africa is ready to give the whole world a World Class Tournament. He went further to educate the Nigeria FA on the need to capitalize on the business side of soccer as he reminded them and Nigerians at large that the name Nigeria to foreigners, is a brand as it used to connote “Football” not airways or communications.

He also urges the FA to do all it could to see Super Eagles qualifiers for South Africa 2010, as he would want the cup to remain in Africa. He went further to tell the football body to do all it could to make football in Nigeria the brand it used to be when the country won the first ever FIFA JVC World Cup in China and the Olympics in Atlanta.

This will only be possible if the FA and the Nigeria government create enabling environment for the private sector like the Oil and Gas, Banking and Aviation etc to joined the board with a view to derive immense corporate connections for the FA.

” When you pull together people from all areas of life, you are bound to have a special body in place that can touch various aspect of profit in football” he concluded.
