Fatimah Mohammed dumps Nigeria

United States based Nigerian, Fatimah Mohammed of the University of Texas In El Paso (UTEP) has turned down Nigeria's offer to include her on the Aligiers bound train for the 9th All Africa Games. She has rather opted to run for Liberia as she was never regarded competent by the Atheletic Federation of Nigeria, despite running a 2.03 early May. The invitation came after the skillful athlete ran a new record of 2.01 to place fourth at the just concluded National Colegiate Atheletics Association (NCAA) divison one championship in Sacramento, Califonia early this Month. Fatimah had waited for the AFN's invitation which did not get to her anyway, made up her mind to run for Liberia, a country that made her a juicy offer.

Nigerian sports officials be it tennis, athletics, basketball, handball, etc have being problems to the athletes for generations. What would take for the officials to recognize the importance of their athletes will most definately be termination of their offices with the National Sports Commission. By appointing in the most fresh minds to leads Nigeria sports associations. While the departments are preparing for such important meet-All African Games, they officials are not fully focusing on inviting those that they have helped trained and or shaped? As Ms. Mohammed defected to Liberia becausae of the so called "juicy offer," are Nigerians reversing the trend of over four hundred years? In the slavery era, no monetary compensation. Now, the new era of slavery is the monetization offer. Are Nigerian athletes reversing the trends of the past centuries with exchangeability? As Ms. Mohammed felt it was the right decision to accept the juice offer, it's rightly better to reconsider her motherland- Nigeria...irrespective of the Nigeria Athletic Association unethical bahavior. Fatimah should set an example, in turn she's a leader for the future.
