Sharks aims for FA Title
Having secured promotion to the elite Globacom premiership for the 2007/08 season, players of Sharks FC of Port Harcourt have their eyes set on winning the FA Challenge Cup title, and picking a continental ticket.
Speaking with nigeriasports.com, top striker of the team Ugochukwu Okeke confirmed that the team is in a high spirit to win the FA cup and pick a CAF ticket to enable them represent the country in a CAF competition come next season. According to him, their 3-1 victory against Oceanboys FC was due to good preparation and motivation from the Rivers government. "Our first victory against Oceanboys FC and draw against Prime FC of Osogbo was not by miss take but fruit of our labour and good preparation also we were highly motivated by the Rivers Government towards the competition" "We are in the FA cup not just to play but also win and represent the country in CAF competition, for a long time Sharks FC has not played in CAF tournament but this time we want to be there" he said. He maintained that with the caliber of players in the team, they would put much effort to make sure they pick the ticket by all cost. 'We have quality players that are ready to die in order to get result for the team, so there is no cause for alarm" he said. Meanwhile Sharks FC is second on their group in calabar zone with 3 points and 3 goals, behind Insurance of Benin FC who has 6 points and 2 goal, while Prime FC of Osogbo has 1 point and 1 goal while Oceanboys FC is already out of the competition with no goal no point. 0
