Nigeria, Ghana in Supremacy battle

It promises to ba a clash of the titans when the U-23 sides of both Nigeria and Ghana takes to the field on June 3rd in Abuja as the race for the soccer event of the 2008 Olympics begins.

The match which is the opener in the series of matches to be played involving South Africa and Ethiopia in the same group, may have become a winner take all encounter as both sides struggle to prove a point on who rules Africa in football.

Both sides were earlier paired together in the All Africa games qulaifier with Ghana emerging the victor pulling a 1-1draw in Abuja after a 0-0 scoreline in the first leg in Ghana.

The black meteors as the U-23 side from Ghana is refered. thus qualified on the away goals rule leaving the Nigerians with a bitter pill to swallow.

The coach samson Siasia led dream team representing Nigeria have however seen this upcoming tango as a good ground to pay back Ghana in their own coins.

"We will do to them what they did to us some months back", the Nigerian coach said confidently, some days ago.

The Nigerian side has been boosted with a full array of its invited foreign based stars unlike the last time out against the same Ghana side.
