First Bank is beatable, Dolphins Boss

As the final leg of the 2006/2007 Zenith Bank Female Premier league enter day-4 today, financier and chairman of Dolphins basketball club of Lagos, Wale Aboderin is upbeat about one fact that the nation’s long standing champion, First Bank “Elephant Girls” basketball club of Lagos can be beaten just like any other team in the league.

Speaking in a chat with our correspondent Tuesday night at the Lagos National Stadium, Aboderin said fans should watch out for an exciting encounter in the First/Dolphins match-up come Saturday when both team clash.

First Bank has remain unbeaten since 2005 when Zenith Bank teamed up with the Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF to bankrole the female league, but Aboderin says that breaking the jinx is a matter of time.

In the matches decided Tuesday Delta Force walloped AHIP by 96-56 points; Customs shoved aside Nigeria Immigration basketball club of Kano 59-47 points; Dolphins went wild agianst Dodan Amazons with a 92-52 points spanking while defending champions, First Bank handed down a 69-45 points defeat of Sunshine Angels of Akure.

Action continue today with four matches on the bill, Dolphins will take on Immigration, First Bank versus AHIP, Delta Force will take to the court against Amazons just as Customs and Sunshine Angels rekindled their rivalry.
