City league: Bullets down Islanders, Comets

The fortune of Lagos City league defending champion, Kennys’ Bullets was brighter at the weekend when it performs the impossible beating two former Nigeria premier league champions, Islanders and Ebun Comets basketball club in a week-9 pairing.

The modest club that parades the like of Nigeria potent shooting guard and captain of Nigeria senior national team to the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia Abdulrahman Mohammed and his co-traveler in the Commonwealth team Baba Jibril, Junior Tigers invitee Michael Ohiero, Dare Borokini among other players shocked Coach Toyin Sonoiki and his boys last Saturday by 87-81 points in an epic battle for the race for the playoff.

With the two victories Bullets now occupies the sixth position on the twelve-team league with Comets retaining its third position after beating Police Bombers basketball club by 58-54 points Saturday, while Islanders is now fourth on the table beating the same Police Bombers 67-64 points on Sunday.

Chariot was 61-45 points better than Sea Rovers on Saturday, Raptors beat Warriors Kadets 62-60 points in over-time to take its win to three while Dodan Warriors who rose to the top of the league table last Tuesday courtesy of its mid-week 76-60 points victory over Chariot managed a 59-55 points win over youthful Warriors Academy.

Union Bank has regained its top spot with two resounding victories over Whales basketball club (70-51) on Saturday and Raptors Academy (93-51) on Sunday.
