Dodan Warriors topple Union Bank,

Dodan Warriors basketball club Tuesday assume the leadership of the Lagos City league when it shove aside opposition from Chariot basketball club with a 76-60 points win to push Union Bank basketball club to second place.

With Tuesday 76-60 points win by the coach Owoicho Alexander tutored Warriors, they now occupy the top spot with 33 points from 17 matches as against Union Bank 31 points from 16 games.

Though Union Bank still have a game at hand against Whales basketball club on Saturday the tide might remain like that for another two days as the 2nd Runners-up of the 2006 FIBA Africa Champions Club Competition will also battle its feeders team, Warriors Academy with 79-59 points advantage from the first leg.

Union Bank who were handed it first defeat in the league last Sunday by former Nigeria champion, Ebun Comets basketball club will need to win its two games billed for this weekend against Whales and Raptors basketball clubs if it must regain its top spot from the Warriors.

Also on Tuesday Warriors Academy got the better of Sea Rovers in a pairing of rookies with 45-30 points victory while Whales defeated Kadets 48-28 points.

Chariot will attempt to stage a big come back so as to be in good stead for a spot in the playoffs when it roll out its arsenal against youthful Sea Rovers in the first match on Saturday, Raptors and Kadets will take their turn to entertain the fans in the second battle while Warriors Academy will take to the court against big brother Dodan Warriors in a family affair.

Other pairing for Saturday include the one between Whales and Union Bank, as Kennys’ Bullets go for broke against Toyin Sonoiki Islanders in one of the top of the bill battle while Police Bombers will do everything possible to arrest rampaging Ayo Bakare’s Ebun Comets as the Cocoa boys have vowed to continue from where it stopped last Sunday with Union Bank.

Three matches are on the calendar on Sunday with Islanders taking on Police Bombers at 14.00 hour, Union Bank and Raptors will take their turn at 15.30 hour while Ebun Comets will engage each other at 17.00hours.
