Ibadan agog for Scrabble Tourney

The tourney which is being backrolled by the Zonal Representative on the board of Scrabble Federation of Nigeria, Segun Adegbenro involves players from the six Southwest states of Nigeria, there includes Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun ,Ondo, Osun and Oyo States.

The Competition, according to a release from the office of the Zonal representative of the National Scports Commision, Peter Nelson is designed to encourage and motivate the budding players of the game and also to help discover new talents will hold from 8 a.m. and 6.00 p.m each day.

According Nelson who was a great basketball player in his playing days, "The competition is being organized to avail players within the region the opportunity to keep abreast of events in the game in preparation for the forthcoming National Sports Festival billed for Kaduna next year.
 
Adegbenro said the competition is strategic in that it is aimed at empowering the states of the zone to enable them win all the available medals in the game at the next sports festival, various prizes and certificates will be won by the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed players and state at the end of the competition.
