Kalada Kienka
The winners of the girls' and boys 16 singles event of the NNPC Junior Circuit Tournament holding in Kaduna January 23 to January 27 will have the rare privilege of challenging one of the top two senior players in the country on the final day of the tournment.
Godwin Kienka, director of the International Tennis Academy organisers of the circuit said the aim was to give the top juniors the opportunity to measure their current level against those of the top seniors to better understand the task ahead. "The challenge would also enable our sponsors and others who support jjunior programs to see for themselves if we are making progress.
'These juniors migt surprise a few people" Kienka added.

According to Mr Kienka, " We have already have Shehu Lawal the nmber two  male player in the country and Margaret Olagundoye  ranked two in the ladies' singles to commit to the challenge.

"If the juniors impress we might be able to persuade the Nigeria Tennis Federation To grant wild cards to top juniors as is done in the Grand Slams." Kienka said.
Nigeria's top juniors most of whom are regulars in the NNPC Junior circuit were outstanding in the last African Junior Champiuonship qualification event in Abuja. Vincent Itodo from Kaduna's Co Foundation, who emerged the most outstanding player at the Port Harcourt leg of the NNPC circuit won the boys 16s while Lolia Kienka, 14,  qualified for the singles and doubles in the girls' 16 event. The African Championship proper will hol;d in South Africa in April.
