Angolan teams dictate pace

It is the Angolan clubs, Desportivo 1. De Agosto and Petro Atletico that have been dictating the pace of event since the commencement of the 21st edition of Africa most prestigious club competition the Champions Club Cup Competition for Men which come to a glorious end today in Lagos, Nigeria.

The clubs have showed what makes Angolan basketball thick and the best in the Africa continet with their display of good character off and on the basketball court.

Both teams are yet to drop a game since the first jump-ball over the last ten days which makes today final an epic battle between two of the continent's most revered teams.

While Petro handed down a 93-68 points defeat to surprised semi-finalist Inter Club basketball club of Congo Brazaville, Aogosto on the other hand were poles apart from their semi-final opponent and home team, Dodan Warriors basketball club of Nigeria.

Desportivo 1. De Aogosto looks the better of the two side with six members of the Angolan national team to the 15th FIBA World Championship in Japan this year. The players includes  Abdel Aziz Boukar nicknamed Moussa, Olimpio Cipriano, Miguel Lutonda, Carlos Almeida, Joaquim Gomes and Armando Costa, with assistance from ageless Angelo Victoriano a veteran of Africa basketball, will surely be a tough client for city rival Petro who also five of the players that represented Angola at the Japan  World championship in Luis Costa, Carlos Morais, Milton Barros, Eduardo Mingas, Antonio Carvalho.

The third place match will see home team, Dodan Warriors trying to give Nigerian something to smile about when it takes on Inter Club from Congo Brazaville.
