Africa Club Championship: Accreditation now in Lag

Accreditation of participating teams and journalists for the 21st FIBA Africa Champions Club Cup Competition for Men schedule for the sports Hall of the Lagos National Stadium, Nigeria from November 16 through 27 will now be accreditted at the competition venue.

This new arrangement was arrived at by the organising committe in order to provide an easy ground for those who would not be able to do it online.

According to the Chairman of the Media and Publicity sub-committee of the continent's most prestigious club competition, Obafemi Obadare that the new measure was to enable more journalists the opportunity of covering one of the greatest competition on the calendar of the contrinent's ruling body, FIBA Africa.

The championship which promises to be one of the best organised in terms of preparation put into it on the calendar of FIBA Africa and the seriousness of Nigeria to host big event successfully will witness the mixture of sports and entertainment at its highest level as witnessed in Europe and the Americas as top Nigerian musician are billed to show-case Nigeria's rich musical culture to the rest of Africa.

Among top the mucisians lined-up for the opening ceremony are award winning Africa queen exponent, Tu-Face Idibia, Black-Face and Sound Sultan all of the Plantiansion Boyz fames while son of late Fela Anikulapo Kuti - Nigeria musical icon Seun Anikulapo Kuti is billed to thrill fans at the closing ceremony of the week-long championship.

Seun who was at the National Stadium Wednesday to inspect the Indoor Sports Hall declared his readiness to honour the event. He, however, declared, “I’m excited,” he said. “I’m a basketball player myself and I feel excited to come and entertain the audience.”
 
All the 12 teams participating in Lagos 2006 finals will be accommodated at the Regency Exclusive Hotel on Adeniyi-Jones Str, Ikeja, Lagos, while the teams will practice at three venues, Nigerian Air Force Base, Ikeja; Rowe Park Sports Centre, Yaba; and the National Stadium Indoor Hall.
