Slain NBBF Chief, begin final home journey
Slain first Vice-President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF, Dr. Adesegun Erinle, who was murdered in cold blood by unknown assailant will begin his final journey thursday when he lie-in-state at the Akure Township Stadium where he served as the General Manager Sports in the Old Ondo State Sports Council for about ten years before the creation of Ekiti State.
According to the burial plans released be the deceased family, a Christain Wake will follow the Akure Stadium lying-in-state at his residence in Oba Ile Housing Estate, Akure, thereafter a commendation church service will held in his honour on Friday morning, at the Chapel of Annunciation, Archbishop Vinning College of Theology, Akure. The corpse would later be conveyed in a motorcade to Ado-Ekiti for an interdenominational service at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado Ekiti and then to his hometown in Ijero-Ekiti for interrment. The late Dr. Erinle served the Nigeria sporting community in different capacity at different time, he was an important member of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) and one of the lights within the Olympic Movement Nigeria. In the past five years he had represented the NBBF on the Board of the Committee, he also served in many NOC Commissions including, the Marketing and Technical Commissions, where he was its vice chairman. Indeed, he was a member of the Main Organising Committee (MOC) of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) Zone III Games, scheduled to hold later this month in Abuja. Erinle served as a General Manager, NOC Liaison under COJA, the Main Organising Committee of the 8th All Africa Games hosted by Nigeria in Abuja in 2003 and was the first Permanent Secretary in the Ekiti State Ministry of Sports and Social Development. 0
