Coach of Banyana Banyana of South Africa ,Augustine Makalakalane has said that his mission to Warri is to qaulify to the world cup in China as he has no special attachment to playing against Nigeria.
He said that the Fridays' decisive Group A match against the Super Falcons in Oleh, does not cost him sleep in any way as the team from the onset decided that every match is improtant as long as the dream to go to the world cup lives.
"My aim in this championship is how to steer the team to next year's World Women’s Championship in China. My major wish as we play Nigeria Friday is that there should be no rain pour because rain affects the performance of my players"
"I came to Nigeria not because I want to play Nigeria but because I want to take my team to the World Championship. So I came with a mission to win a ticket to the World Championship and if I have to beat Nigeria to reach my aim, I am prepared to do that".
He however said that his side can beat the Super Falcons if they get their acts together and play according to instructions, but admitted that Nigeria parade one of the strongest side in the tournament.
"Everyone is talking about Nigeria , I can't do that, we know Nigeria is a strong country in female football in Africa and we watch them every time on the cable, so they are not my problem"
.
"As a team in the tournament, I have concerned myself with things that can win a match for me and this has been my strategiy. I knew everything I need to know about Nigeria long time ago and what is left for me to do is to execute it and see what happens"
The dreadlock former Bafana Bafana defender wondered why so much attention is directed towards his team and Nigeria , reasoning that other teams are also title contenders in their own right. and with what is happening a lot of surprises may spring up.
While admitting that his team had what it takes to confront Nigeria on Friday, Makalakalane was not sure if the weather would be on his side, according to him, "The weather is funny, it could rain any time without warning and that is my concern. That is not to say that my team can't do well in wet conditions the thing is that rainy conditions shatters match plan and could lead players to much errors. I don't pray it rains on Friday".
