MTS promises more backing for Lagos City league
Pioneer Wireless Telecommunications Operator, MTS First at the weekend sponsored the final-4 of the 2nd edition of the Lagos City Basketball Championship at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National stadium, Surulere.
According to the Chief Operating Officer of the company, Oladamoye Oyesiku the decision to support the competition was in tune with the company’s sports development objectives and corporate social responsibility and promised the company continuous support for the league. The play-off finals saw city rivals Kenny’s Bullets, Police Bombers, NAF Rockets, and ENN Studs vying for honours in the male category while in the female category, Nigeria’s female basketball champion, Elephant Girls, locked horns with the Brownies, the Blue Angels, the Rocks and the Dodan Amazons. Babs Ogunade, Chairman of the Lagos State Basketball Association (LSBA), organizers of the games, lauded MTS First for taking the initiative to support the event at a time when sports sponsorship was becoming fewer in the country and called on other corporate organizations to emulate the MTS gesture. 0
