Peaks in second, as Comets fumble
Nigeria Premier league champion, Plateau Peaks basketball club are truly leaving up to the stuff they are made up of as they won its second game to brightened its chances of playing in the finals in Lagos come November.
The Jos-based team won its first game Monday against CBS of Togo 94-41 out played Invicible Eleven basketball of Liberia Tuesday by 94-58 points to seat second in the group-A table with 4 points next to group leader African Sports basketball club of Ivory Coast. Nigeria second representative in the qualifiers, Ebun Comets basketball was not however lucky as the former Nigeria champion have its second games played so far losing by a whopping 20 points (73-53) margin Monday to Back basketball club of Guinea which makes its chances of making it to the grand finale very slim. The two Ivoires teams in the qualifiers Africa Sports and Zenith are enjoying full home support as they yet to drop a game since the commencement of the qualifiers last Saturday. Both team leads their respective groups with maximum points from games played so far and are exempted from today's pairing. In some of the matches billed for today is the encounter between group-A lowly rated CBS of Togo taking on Invicible Eleven of Liberia; Comets have a chance to redeem its name when it takes to the court against group-B second placed team, Liberia's NPA Python. Other matches will see CEPS Braves of Ghana against BACK of Guinea while the last encounter of the day will see high flying Nigeria champion Peaks taking on ASPAC of Republic of Benin.
