50 kids for champions' Nest clinic

In Nigeria 50 kids of ages 12 to 17 are attending the first Champions' Nest basketball clinic holding at the sports hall of the Nigerian Air Force Base, Ikeja.

The clinic which is meant to inculcate in the kids the basic of the game is the brain-child of former Islanders and Ebun Comets basketball clubs forward, Godwin unegbe.

The former Nigeria international said the main aim of the three-day clinic is to teach the kids the basic fundamental, outline of a major basketball competition, fouls so as not to run fouls of them when they starts playing and how many officcials and their roles in a particular game in the first day of the clinic.

The clinic which has 2005 Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF Challenge winning coach Emmanuel Okolo as one of the instructors.

Coach Mark Balogun of the Nigeria Police Bombers basketball club, Ebun Comets secretary and assistant coach Dayo Odejayi and some premier league players and top female players are some of the instructors.

Unegbe, explained that the clinic will be an annual event as a give-back to the game he loved so much.
