Kanu in scoring debut

Nigerian striker, Nwankwo Kanu made an impressive start at his new base with a brace for Portsmouth at the start of the new English premier league season.

The lanky forward who was released at the end of last season by relegated West Brom scored two goals to help Portsmouth overcome Blackburn Rovers 3-0.

The former Arsenal star came on as a 59th minute substitute and scored his first of the night on the 62nd minute.

Kanu in like fashion as the first goal also headed in another in the 84th minute and could have gone ahead to score a hat-trick on the dot of time but his penalty was saved by the Blackburn goal tender.

Striker Todorov had tapped in a Benjamin Mwaruwari cross earlier in the game to put scores at 1-0 before Kanu's moment of brilliance.
