Tayo and Ikwuagwu retain titles

Abakaliki, Ondo's Tayo Emmanuel and Ifeanyi Ikwuagwu from Ebonyi retained their titles at the ongoing 2nd Sam Egwu National Wrestling championships in Abakaliki. Emmanuel defeated Okeke Tochukwu of Josemilla Club in the 42kg Greco Roman while Ikwuagwu beat Prefedha Kiribam of Bayelsa in the 74kg also in the Greco Roman.

  Both wrestlers were gold medallists at the National Sports Festival held in Abeokuta in April.
 
Segun Adebano from Lagos and Nkechukwu Ebuka of  Delta were the two bronze medallists in the 42kg while Ojo Moses of
Ogun and Gideon Balogun from Lagos won bronze medals in the
74kg.
 
Other events already decided in the Greco Roman events were
30kg Okafor Nnamadi of Delta, who defeated Chinedu Ali from
Jinco Club,  50kg, Danabi Iresi, Lagos, beat Friday Akoshi,
Edo, 60kg, Franklin Ezem, Delta beat Udozie Feleke, Plateau
and 96kg, Paul Ikpon, Plateau who beat Samul Ebiebowei.
 
The championship featuring events in both male and female
events would end on Aug. 15.
