Nigerian U-18 team jets out

The Nigerian U-18 basketball team is to depart the country Tuesday for South Africa ahead of the African junior basketball championship holding in the Southern African country, reports nigeriasports.com. The junior D'Tigers coached by highly experienced Adeka Daudu, is to slug it out with the best of African basketball playing nations between July 28th and August 6th for a place in the world championship proper. "The teams' 79-74 points victory over a selected all stars team has placed the team in good stead ahead of the championship. The nerves are already relaxed and there will no longer be any anxiety amogst the players. The boys now know they can do it and am satisfied with their performances so far", disclosed the team's chief coach. "This is the best assembled U-18 team so far and having previously worked as assistant coaches as this level, I believe it is my time to prove my mettle and I remain optimistic about the chances of this team", the coach added. The team is expected to have three days to acclamatize before kicking off their campaign at the championship.
