Lagos keeps NUJ Games to self

This year's edition, which has been slated for August 20 to 26, nigeriasports.com gathered, would be restricted to Media Houses in Lagos only as against that of last year, which was the maiden edition, that was extended to other chapels of the Union across the nation.

Explaining why this has to be so, the Chief Executive of the Consulting Firm to the Games, O & I Contact, Lagos, Mr. Isaac Osaikwiwu disclosed:

"Basically, I think the owners and organizers of the Games felt that, it was too much load, talking about finance and other logistics, before arriving at the decision to keep the event within Lagos Media Houses this time around.

"Again, there is the need for a better organization, things done properly as against that of last year, which was more or less experimental," Osaikwiwu explained in a chat with us.

The Lagos Union of Journalists, have decided to add more ingredients aimed at ensuring that, most, if not all participants, go home with one gift or the other to show at least as souvenirs for their sweat at the event.

For teasers, nigeriasports.com gathered that, as against what obtained in the first edition, there are expected to be both cash and kind prizes and "there are sponsors for these inovations," an NUJ source hinted.

We were also informed that, the 100m event will be introduced in this edition.  This we were reliably informed, is one of the many other glomourous things that would happen this year.
