Against speculations that, the 2010 World Cup Finals for which FIFA had given South Africa the hosting rights may not be afterall, the game's governing body has come out strongly to restate that, there had not been any iota of doubts about the African nation's rights to host the event.

According to a press release made availabele to nigeriasports.com, FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter has stressed once again that “Media reports that the 2010 World Cup will be held in a different country are completely groundless.

"The 2010 FIFA World Cup will take place in South Africa,”  the release stated; adding that,"The official logo of the 2010 World Cup was unveiled in Berlin, Germany on July 7 in the presence of the President of South Africa, Thabo Mbeki."

To further press home FIFA's unrepentant stance that the world's most glomorous single sport event is holding in South Africa, the statement disclosed that; "Now that the 2006 World Cup has ended, FIFA will concentrate its efforts on preparations for the first World Cup on African soil, in accordance with its existing plans."
