Zenith Bank: Blue Angels, Customs Goes through
Two Lagos based female basketball teams, Blue Angels basketball club and Nigeria Customs basketball have qualified for the final-8 of the Nigeria Women Club Championship sponsored by top Nigeria financial institution, Zenith Bank Plc.
The two teams placed first and second from the Asaba Equitorial conference of the championship which ended last Friday at the sports hall of the Asaba Township stadium in Delta State. Blue Angels coached by former Nigeria senior national team captain, Sola Ogunade topped the conference with a maximum eight points winning all four games played while the border girls coached by national team coach, Scott Nnaji fought off stiff challenges poised by Sunshine Angels basketball club of Akure to placed second leaving the Andrew Isokphehi tutored Akure Angels' in the third spot. The Blue Angels who managed a 56-51 points win over Dodan Amazons basketball club of Lagos in its opening game did not looked back afterward beating the Akure Sunshine Angels 71-58 points; defeated the Customs by 54-40 points in a very technical game before compounding the woes of Edo Queens of Benin 49-23 points to finish top of the conference. The train move to Akure today (Sunday) where fans will be treated to top flight basketball action for the next five days as Elephant Girls begin her title defence against hard fighting Dolphins and Delta Force basketball clubs.
