Mabo sets deadline for foreign-based players

Mercy Akide
Chief Coach of Nigeria’s female national team, Ismaila Mabo, says he will decide on Thursday night what to do about foreign-based players who do not turn up in camp before his Sunday deadline.

Mabo told www.nigeriasports.com that he has fixed Sunday, 11th January as deadline for arrival of foreign based players.

“All home based players are already in camp,” Coach Mabo said.

“Gloria Usieta will not come because she has a game on the 25th for her club, Kavala 86 FC, so she can forget this match and come in for the second leg.”

He said Maureen Mmadu called and said she had to go back to Norway, but will return immediately.

Coach Mabo’s greatest boost will no doubt be the arrival of former Africa Footballer of the year, Mercy Akide to the camp on Thursday night.

“I spoke with Mercy on tuesday and she has assured she will be in camp by Thursday. Patience Avre will also come in before Sunday.”

The Falcons Chief Coach however, did not say what measures will be taken against players who are not in camp by Sunday.

“I don’t expect any of them to flaunt my orders, but like I said, I’ll decide on Thursday night, though I doubt if there will be any need for that.”
