Obafemi decides to glow with Glo

Inter Milan and Super Eagles' goal-mongering forward, Obafemi Martins has decided to join forces with Nigeria's first choice telecommunications giants, Globacom as a way of further boosting the image of the country outside the field of play.

To this end, the Italian Serie A side player, is expected to sing an endorsement with Glo on Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at the magnificient Glo Towers on Victoria Island, Lagos.  The player, who had an earlier endorsement with another telecom company,is taking the move as a way of contributing to the development of the nation's communications system.

According to Mr. Harry Iwuala of Glo, the ceremonies would "include not only the endorsement, but followed by another ceremony at the Badagary Expressway Offices of the company, by the Lagos State University.  There, the player is expected the sign authographs for fans and give out sourvenirs to fans.

"We at Glo feel that, even when the country will not be at the GERMANY 2006 World Cup Finals, there is need to showcase some of our players and let Nigerian soccer fans have at least, a glimpse of their stars physically.  It is a service we feel would go a long way in soothing the nerves of some of the fans," Iwuala told nigeriasports.com on phone.

We were also informed that, besides Obafemi, another Super Eagles player, Osaze Odewingie is expect to grace the event and add more colour and substance.  "We feel that, this too, would be to the delight of the teeming soccer fans in the country."
