Wrestlers set for a re-launch in Domingo

Smarting from the ban on some of the nation's weightlifters, and unrepentant on proving to the rest of the world that, "we can do it without being on drungs", the Nigerian Weightlifting Federation is getting their acts together to storm the next World Weightlifting Championship with handful of naturally strong lifters, who would stun the world.

The next championship billed for September 2006 in Santos Domingo, would act as a theatre for the young and natural gifted Nigerian lifters to showcase their natural prowess in the power show of the world.

According to Steeve Olarinoye, Secretary-General of the Federation, "we will be there.  We must prove to the rest of the world that, we are a nation to reckon with in the game of strength.

"We missed out of the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia because some of our top lifters were sanctioned by the world body.  Now, the ban has been lifted and it is time for us to join the rest of the world in Santos Domingo," an excited Olarinoye told nigeriasports.com
