Supporters' 'Soldiers of Peace' storm Abuja![]() The 'Peace Squad' according to the club's leader, Dr. Rafiu Ladipo, is expected to have talks with both the Alhaji Ibrahi m Galadima faction and the Dr. Seidu Sambawa, sports minister's side. "Enough is enough," Ladipo fumed at a press meeting in Lagos yesterday. Those who wear the shoes, know where they pinsh...we are all stakeholders in the game. I mean the Nigerian on the street is a stakeholder and if you guys doubt me, wait until the World Cup starts in Germany next month and see how loud Nigerians would lament the absence of their beloved country. "We, members of the Supporters Club are particularly unhappy with the situation, which is gradually burning down the glamour of the game to its very roots in the country. "We invest not only our hard-earned money, but time and the risk of having to travel by land, air and at times, sea to cheer the teams...we have represented the nation very well at global tournaments. " Infact, after the players and coaches, the next is our club. Enough of this lingering ego war between the minister and Galadima. Both parties should bury their pride and let the nation come first." Ladipo, who was joined by his Secretary-General, Yomi Whesu, the national chairman Alhaji Yusuf Adenrele, his vice and other executive members of the Club, agreed that there may have been an election..."Granted that there was an election, granted that, the minister oversees sports in the country and that the NFA runs the game. "But the game cannot be run without the government. Autonomy should be gradual, so one must have to bow for the other to continue with the administration of the game, which brings a unifying joy to everyNigerian home even those in diaspora,"a visibly aggrieved Ladipo and his Abuja-bound soldiers of peace submitted. 0
