Agagu aid extols youth programme

Special Adviser to the Ondo State governor, Barrister Gbenga Adesioye last weekend presented training kits to the Ondo State Sports Development Committee (OSFODEC).

According to the goivernor's aid, OSFODEC was formed in 2005 to speed up the development of soccer in the state. The Chief-Of-Staff to the Governor Femi Agagu was named the Chairman of the hard working team.

The academy has 96 teenagers in its fold. The youngsters are camped in well furnished apartments every weekend, trained by top rated coaches and a liaison officer. The team's camp is also equiped with modern such as DSTV and computers. The academy maintain four camp sites in Okitipupa, Ondo, Akure and Ikare.

While in camp, the players are well fed, kitted with 2 pairs of boots(hard and soft), training canvases jerseys, bibs and provided with medical facilities.

Last year the U-17 team finished third at the maiden edition of late Patrick Okpomo competition, held in Warri, Delta State.

Impressed by the performance of the youth team the state Chief Executive, Dr. Olusegun Agagu reawrded each youngster 25,000 naira and a set of track suit.

In the same vein, OSFODEC FC qualified for the National Preliminaries of the National Challenge Cup competition.

Plans are in top gear to boost the team with two buses for the ease transportation and to motivate the players to the hiughest level.

Two of the academy players, Oboabona Etame and Akin Ogunboye were recently snapped up by the Pro-League football outfit, Sunshine Stars Football Club of Akure while three have been invited to the National U-17 camp.
