Rivers state continues dominance of swimming event
Rivers State on Wednesday night made it seven gold medals in swimming as Eric Williams and Obia “the fish” Inyingiyikabo added to more gold to take the total haull of the state to seven in the pool.
Incidentally, all seven gold medals by Rivers State in swimming are from the duo, with Obia taking four gold and Williams grabbing three. In the 200 m breaststroke, Eric Williams won in a new national record of 2m:33.9s to shatter his old time of 2m: 35.25s set in 2004. Obia Inyingiyikabo won gold in the 100 m butterfly in a time of 1m: 16.46s. Esther Omoleye of Ondo state came second with a time of 1m: 17.48s, while Lilian Ikoko of delta state was third with 1m: 18.10s. 0
