Fatai Amao assured of Julius Berger job
Contrary to speculations in the media that Fatai Amao might be sacked following Julius Berger's loss in the Cup Winners Cup final, Club Chairman, Adewale Kuti says the former International still remains chief coach of the bridge boys.
Adewale Kuti told www.nigeriasports.com that Fatai Amao still has the confidence of the Club's management and will lead the club in the 2004 football season. Kuti absolved Amao of any blame for the Club's loss to Etoile of Tunisia in the Cup Winners Cup final. "At no time did we inform the players to go on the defence, like it was widely reported" he recalled the Sousse disgrace. Stating that the boys failed to yield to the Coach's orders on the field which led to the sad loss. " I was right there in Sousse with the players and I saw all that happened, they simply played to the hands of the Tunisians who forced them to the defence" he added The soft spoken Kuti however affirmed that the coach will be given all the necessary support needed to steer Berger to a solid Bridge in the coming season both at home and in the now expanded Caf Champions league.
