Rivers weightlifting team gears up for medal haul
A member of the Rivers State weightlifting team, Chinyere Nwosu says she will return from Abeokuta with at least three gold medals hanging down her neck. Chinyere Nwosu who was part of the training camp for the just concluded commonwealth games told nigeriasports.com that she has already scared her would be opponents with her intimidating outlook.
“Who are the opponents? These girls here? Let them come and lift let me see.” Chinyere Nwosu said confidently.
“As far as I am concerned I will leave this place with three gold medals and I do not see anything or any one stopping me from that.”
According to Nwosu, the experience gathered at the commonwealth games camp put her in pole position to achieve her aims of three gold medals.
“The commonwealth games camp helped me but my major motivation is the fact this games will also serve as qualifiers for the 2007 All Africa Games.”
She however frowned at the distance of the Rivers State camp to the venue of the events.
According to Nwosu, it may be an attempt by the host state to weaken other teams by the long journey.
