Lobi, Enyimba through, Rangers crash

Rangers International of Enugu at the weekend crashed out of the CAF Champions League with a 1-4 beating in the hands of El Hilal of Sudan just as the remaining teams continued their quest for honours in the continent

Rangers had already won the first round 1-0 in the first leg decided a fortnight ago in Enugu but El Hilal overpowered them in the return leg last weekend 4-0.

While CAF Champions league former champions, Enyimba Football Club of Aba, qualified for the next round with a 2-1 goals aggregates over Jarraf of Senegal.

Jarraf won the first leg 1-0 but the Aba war lords tunred the table with two beautiful strikes in the return leg. But while Enyimba smiled to the next round.
In the Confedrations Cup Heartland Football Club of Owerri booked a place in the next round with a beautiful 2-0 victory over Jeunesse Football Club .

Lobi Fooball Club of Makurdi managed to squeezed past Akonangui with a 6-5 penalty kicks after a a goal all in both legs.

Speaking on the performance of the Nigeria teams, the team manager of Shooting Stars, Kafaru Alabi, blamed the average performance of the teams on the late kick off of the 2006 Globacom League and bad planning.

"The teams would gotten better results if the Nigerian league had kicked off since. This should be blamed on the impasse going on the Nigeria Football Association," he explained.
